After all the hype, I finally get to watch The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz. It was nearly three hours long (Gosh, what’s with movies nowadays being this long?! Were they that bored during the pandemic?)
A shout out to Colin Farrell’s makeup artist. It was superb! I could not recognise him at all.
Anyway, let’s get down to the deets:
Sounds:
[] Mute it
[] Annoying but can live with it
[✔] Adding to my playlist (it has an indie vibe to it)
[] Smash the repeat button!
Plot:
[] What plot?
[] Nothing special but enjoyable
[✔] Good table talk (There were punny moments and subtle aha! touches. But some scenes were too draggy.)
[] Mind-blown Inception style
Graphics:
[] Eyesore
[] Not bad
[✔] Good (Effective cinematography styles were utilised to bring out the mysteriousness of the film. A tad too dark at times.)
[] Eye-candy
Acting:
Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano and Robert Pattinson are good at acting with Paul Dano standing out the most. Given the character’s colourful background, it is understandable that he can portray more, but the main leads did a fine job too. However, while I feel Zoe has the street Catwoman vibe, her acting does not top Anne Hathaway’s version. Anne pulls off the Catwoman’s character very well in specific memorable scenes. For example, this part when she screams and pretends – a total Catwoman thing to do:
Fun:
[] Fell asleep
[✔] Kill time
[] I paid attention
[] What a roller coaster!
In The Batman, the pacing of the romance between Bat and Cat felt unnatural. Overall, I prefer Christopher Nolan’s movies, but we’ll give Matt Reeves’s version time to build.
Verdict: 3/5
[may contain spoilers]
I was sceptical when I first read about the reviews, and I did not like Lola Bunny’s new design (she looks like an aunt lol). So, I had low expectations when I watched it. It turns out to be enjoyable and light-hearted. Anyway, without much further ado, here are the deets.
Sounds:
[ ] Mute it
[✔] Can’t remember so no comment

[ ] Everyone, let’s sing!
Graphics:

[ ] Good
[✔] Eye-candy
Plot:
[ ] What plot?
[✔] Nothing special but enjoyable

[ ] Just to kill time
[✔] I paid attention

Verdict: 3.5/5
Drawn directly in Photoshop. I find this hard as I wanted to maintain Arya’s features yet make her male. If I make her more masculine, it wouldn’t look like her anymore. If I maintain most of her features, he’ll probably look nothing like a male. The wolf shadow represents her shadow and Nymeria. All in all, good practice haha.
Girls on Fire featuring Katniss Everdeen, Daenerys Targaryen and Tauriel. Sketched with pencil and coloured in Photoshop. Spot the dragons.

“Girls on Fire” work-in-progress sketched with mechanical pencil; done in a couple of hours. Going to be shaded and coloured soon.

I haven’t drawn for months and was feeling a bit rusty so this is good practice. Featuring Daenerys Stormborn from Game of Thrones, sketched with pencil and finished in Photoshop.
I watch the tv series although I would like to read the book too but since I didn’t have much time nor do I have the books, I’ll stick to watching for the time being.
Who are your favourite characters? Mine’s Daenerys and Bran Stark. Also, check out this theme song by Jason Yang (fell in love with it!):

A Les Miserables Jean Valjean quick sketch done in 1hr 16mins. I have not sketched with my trusty mechanical pencil for a while so this is good practice. I watched Les Miserables recently and I have to say, I have never cried so much in a movie as such before. Stunning performances, all of them. Just remember to bring tissue boxes with you when you want to watch it.
I went in the cinema not knowing what to expect; well I knew that Anne Hathaway’s going to be in it but she turned out to be a sidekick lol.
On a side note, my illustration’s still ongoing, stalled a bit but I will eventually finish it sooner or later!
Update: Uploaded a larger sketch.
I have not done a quick sketch in a while so here is one (1hr 30mins)! I recently watched the tv series “Firefly” and movie “Serenity”. Be sure not to make the same mistake as me by watching the movie first lol. The movie is a wrap up though I was somewhat disappointed that they decided to end it early especially when Firefly was such a good series. River Tam is one of my favourite crazy characters (besides Joker).
That aside, I have decided to change the blog layout with my own custom header woot! Mainly because the old layout was bugging me.
Here is the movie preview:
5 reasons why you must watch Firefly & Serenity:
1. Storyline and character development are the main highlights.
2. Wraps up nicely even though Fox has decided to axe it (Only one season?! Fox, you better bring it back!).
3. Witty dialogues and nice theme song.
4. Intense action.
5. Awesome. Nuff said.
